Registration for the 2020-21 School Year

Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School has closed boundaries and a cap on the number of students at each grade level. This year, we implemented a lottery process for new students who wish to attend for the 2020-21 school year.  

The lottery process is used when the number of new students who wish to enrol in a particular grade exceeds available spaces in that grade. The lottery process only impacts new students who wish to attend our school. It does not impact students who currently attend our school.

For the 2020-21 school year:

  • A lottery process was used for Kindergarten. Families will be notified of lottery results by April 23. 
  • We have reached capacity at Grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9.

Students not able to attend our school because of the lottery process or because we have reached capacity at a grade level will be able to attend an overflow designated school.

Our overflow designated schools are:

McKee School for Kindergarten to Grade 6. Yellow bus service is available. Bus fees will apply.

Vernon Barford School for Grades 7 to 9. ETS is the preferred transportation method. If ETS does not meet Division standards, students may be able to apply for yellow bus service. Bus fees will apply.

Students may also attend a school of choice with space or remain at their current school (if the grade is offered). Yellow bus service is not available (except for some alternative programs).

Students not able to attend Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School

We will help all families who have children not able to attend Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School register at their overflow designated school. If families would like to go to another Division school, they will need to call or email their preferred school to see if there is space. Siblings will be guaranteed a space at the overflow designated school (if the grade is offered). If families choose to go to another school with space, siblings are not guaranteed a space. 

Families may request that their child/ren be placed on a callback list for spaces that open at Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School before September 30, 2020. Students must be enrolled at a Division school for the 2020-21 school year to stay on the callback list. 

Enrolment and Registration after April 15

All Division Schools are currently closed so students who move into the attendance area between April and June will be asked to remain with their current school for the remainder of the 2019–20 school year.

If space is not available at a grade level for 2020-21, new students who wish to register can attend their overflow designated school, another school with space, or remain at their current school. If requested by parents, students will be added to the bottom of the callback list. 

Please note that we will not accept registrations for the 2020-21 school year if the student is not considered a resident of Edmonton Public Schools. A student is only considered a ‘resident’ if at least one parent or guardian lives in Edmonton and at least one parent is not Roman Catholic.

New Student Registration in Grades where Space is Available

Because schools remain closed to students and visitors due to COVID-19, new student registrations must be submitted online.


You will need to use an existing Gmail account or set up a free Gmail account to fill out the online form. This helps us protect the privacy of your personal information.


You can fill out the Student Registration form electronically, print a copy and scan it. Alternatively, you can print the Student Registration form, complete it and take clear photos of each completed page.

Upload the following documents:

  • the completed Student Registration form
  • at least THREE documents that confirm the address for the student's parent/guardian (see below)
  • legal proof of the student’s name, citizenship and birthdate (see below)

All documents must be uploaded in order to submit the form. Please ensure that you are providing clearphotos and the entire page is visible for each document submitted.

Confirming your Registration

Once you have submitted your completed student registration form and supporting documents, we will review all of the documents. Submitting the student registration form and supporting documents is not confirmation of enrolment. We will contact you by phone or email to confirm your enrolment. We will also contact you if we need clarification about any of the documents you submit.
