Registration for the 2020-21 School Year
CURRENT STUDENT PRE-ENROLMENT
Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account by April 15 to select your child's preferred school for next year. Whether your child is staying at Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour or changing schools, all students need to pre-enrol. Learn more at Current School Pre-Enrolment.
Moved? Update your address at your current school office before pre-enrolling in SchoolZone. You will need to provide three documents that confirm your address is in our designated attendance area of Ambleside and Glenridding Heights.
NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
Because schools remain closed to students and visitors due to COVID-19, new student registrations will now be submitted online. If your child is new to the Division, you must complete our school’s online registration form, fill out and upload the Student Registration form and submit supporting documents before your child(ren) can be registered for the upcoming school year.
Our school will no longer accept printed registrations. Do not drop off student registration forms at the school.
Submitting a registration package after the deadline of 4:00 PM on April 15, 2020 may limit your options to schools with available space. See registration dates and deadlines.
Learn more about schools that have implemented a lottery process, including Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School, and how this might impact new student registration.
Children who are five years old on or before December 31, 2020 may register in Kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year. If your child will be six years old on September 1, 2020, they must start Grade 1 even if they have not attended Kindergarten.
Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School will not accept registrations from new families moving into the attendance area if the student is not considered a resident of Edmonton Public Schools. A student is considered a ‘resident student’ if at least one parent or guardian lives in Edmonton and at least one parent is not Roman Catholic. New non-resident students in the school’s attendance area can attend a school in their resident school division or another Edmonton Public school that has space.

CONFIRMING REGISTRATION SUBMISSION
Once you have submitted your completed student registration form and supporting documents, we will review all of the documents. We will also contact you if we need clarification about any of the documents you submit.
NEW STUDENTS AND THE LOTTERY PROCESS
Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School has closed boundaries and will implement a lottery process for new students for the 2020-21 school year. This process will only impact new students who wish to enrol at our school; it will not impact students who currently attend our school.
What does this mean for my child?
Each grade will have a cap for the number of classes and students for that grade level. If the number of new students who want to enrol at a particular grade exceeds available spaces, a lottery process will be used.
Students who aren’t able to attend our school will be able to attend an overflow designated school, McKee School for Kindergarten to Grade 6 and Vernon Barford School for Grades 7 to 9. They may also attend a school of choice with space in planned classes or remain at their current school (if the grade is offered).
What about siblings of students currently attending our school?
As long as both siblings will be attending our school for 2020-2021 and both have registered and/or pre-enrolled by April 15:
- a new sibling registering in Kindergarten will be guaranteed a space.
- a new sibling registering or pre-enrolling in Grades 1-9 will be given priority but is not guaranteed a space
